SEAHOLM IN THE FIELD

BILL FARNUM

It is those that wear SEAHOLM® watches that inspire us.

They are the ones that make sure SEAHOLM® watches are authentic, true and tested. It is their feedback and support that keeps us motivated and moving forward.

"Know how you sometimes feel like you’re doing your fair share to help a worthy cause...and then you meet someone who’s really contributing and making a difference? I mean one of those people who doesn’t just give his or her own time, money, and energy, but is constantly getting others involved as well... This is how I feel every time I see Bill Farnum."
- Tom Bie, editor, Drake Magazine

Rett Syndrome

Bill Farnum may never hear his daughter say “I love you.” He may never get the chance to see her kick a soccer ball or walk her down the aisle, or see her leave home for college.  Ella, Bill’s teenage daughter, suffers from a rare neurological disorder called Rett Syndrome.  Rett Syndrome is first recognized in infancy and seen almost always in girls. Rett causes problems in brain function that are responsible for cognitive, sensory, emotional, motor and autonomic function. Rett is most often misdiagnosed as autism, cerebral palsy, or non-specific developmental delay.

But Bill has hope for Ella  in the form of good friends, a strong family, a few fly rods, and an overwhelming drive to help her and others.

Casting4ACure

Founded in 2008, Casting4ACure is a tight band of compadres and compatriots who take fly fishing and fundraising very seriously.   They have raised over $1,500,000 for research and testing to help find a cure for Rett Syndrome.

Adventure is the inevitable result of pursuing our passions.  By that definition, Bill is one of the most adventurous.  Whether fly fishing, creating and managing an impactful charity, or having a lifetime carrier at Nike, what ever Bill puts his passion behind thrives.  At NIKE, he was one of the fabled EKIN.   Nike co-founder Phil Knight was the first EKIN and his select group of Nike devotees helped to ensure that  passion for product remained foremost at the company.

By combining two of his passions, fly fish and philanthropy, Bill and his wife Beth, along with some incredible volunteers, have set off to help save their daughter Ella from a cruel and destructive disorder that has taken much from her and thousands of girls like her.  Along the way, they have been able to connect with an industry filled with compassionate, caring, and generous people, making an impact on so many lives.

Rett Syndrome is a very rare disorder.  The majority of funding for research has to come from private sources.
Everything we can do to help is a step toward making an impact on many lives.

For us, it is an honor that Bill wears a SEAHOLM.  Bill defines passion and it is what we put into this company and our watches.  If we make only a fraction of the impact Bill has made, it will be a job well done.
